Come this 28 July 2018, the most anticipated Sutera Harbour Resort’s charity event – the 18th Sutera Harbour 7K Charity Run – will be held.
The run, which started in 2000, grew to be the biggest charity run in Kota Kinabalu with participants not only from Kota Kinabalu but also from Sarawak, West Malaysia as well as from other foreign countries, eager to be part of this noble cause.
Last year, the run saw some 6,000 runners participated in the event. This year SHR is hoping to garner some 10,000 supporters with all net proceeds be distributed equally to Sutera Harbour Resort 7K Charity Run’s beneficiaries, namely Sabah Thalassemia Society, Special Olympics Sabah and PEMADAM Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu.
On 11 June 2018, the Sutera Harbour 18th 7K Sunset Charity Run’s press conference was held at the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club Theatre Hall. The press conference saw representatives of all beneficiaries, including Datuk Joannes Solidau, Director-general of Kota Kinabalu City Hall, who was also there on behalf of PEMADAM.
Mr Francis Mujim, President of Sabah Thalassemia Society and Mr Ngo York Kong, Honorary Secretary of Special Olympics Sabah were also there with representatives of 7K charity run’s generous sponsors and of course our friends from the media.
It was also an honour to see Mr Foo Kia Inn, one of the founders of the run, to be part of the distinguished guests on that day.
Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club General Manager, Mr Rick Blackie in his welcoming speech said as of 11 June 2018, we already have 2,000 participations and more were expected to enter.
This year, participation fees are RM42.45 per adult, RM33 per child/student and RM37.75 per person in group of min 15 people.
All participants are entitled to 7K T-Shirt and certificate of participation. As a precaution however, participants must be fit, healthy and fully prepared for the Run. Participants who are in doubt are advised to consult their doctors prior to participating in the Run.
On event day, all participants will gather for a fitness warm up at the Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club Covered Tennis Court a little after 4pm.
The flagging off will be at 5.17pm, first being for members of the public and second flag off for patients of Sabah Thalassemia Society, members of Special Olympics Sabah and VVIP guests.
All participants will start their run at the tennis court and proceed to the Tg. Aru flyover for their first check point. They will then make a turn towards the city centre, along the coastal highway, entering the junction to Imago Shopping mall for check point number two.
From there, they again need to make a u turn towards Sutera Harbour Resort traffic light, going towards the Coral Bay @ Sutera residential area for third check point before finishing their journey back at the starting point.
After running for this noble cause, everyone gets to boogie with it with the 7K Post Run Concert for 3 hours.
All get a chance to have fun with energetic performances by J Dance Studio and a special appearance by 2015 Sugandoi Kaamatan winner, Apprillisa Sue Ann as well as returning 7K performers.
So, come one, come all and be part of this gallant event.
